DIY Short Sleeve Shirt To Tanktop

I can't even count how many pieces of clothing I have cut up to make into something new. In my house, no piece of clothing is safe from my craft scissors. Ha Ha

My latest project came to me when I was getting ready to take my boys to a pool party. I put my one-piece swimsuit on with some short swimming shorts. Then, I laid out my usual tank tops that I wear over my swimsuits and decided I was ready for something new and more colorful. Not ten minutes later, I had a super cute new tank top that I made out of an old yellow fitted short sleeve shirt. I put together this collage that is pretty much self explanatory on how to cut up a shirt to make a tank top.

Here's how to make your own:
1. Cut sleeves off along the seam.
2. Cut 'U' shape along collar and back of shirt.
3. Cut shoulder pieces along shoulder seam so they can be tied together later. I also cut down into the shoulder strap pieces so that when I tie all the pieces together I criss cross the pieces. This step is just so that I don't have a regular blah tanktop.
4. Try on your tank top and adjust the shoulder knots as desired.
5. Strut it!
